If You Like Flume Here Are 5 More Artists to Know

Only a few days ago, Australian producer phenom Harley Streten (aka Flume) graced listeners with his highly anticipated third studio album, "Palaces". In the wake of this momentous occasion, we here at New Something have decided to curate something special for you. The following artists have been hand selected based off of their impressive and unique sound design, which fans of Flume will be sure to dig. Turn up the dB’s and enjoy!

Quiet Bison

The first artist on our list is the Portland native prodigy Quinn Brown, more commonly known by his stage name, Quiet Bison. At only 20 years old, Quinn has been absolutely dominating the scene the past few years, earning himself collaborations, remixes, and live shows with the likes of Flume, What So Not, Reo Cragun and more. His most recent collaboration off of Palaces is one of the highlights of the album, but definitely do not sleep on his solo work, he’s not one to miss!

Lorn

Next up, we have IDM maestro Lorn. Launching his career in 2006, Marcos Ortega has achieved many impressive accomplishments, including releases from legendary labels like Brainfeeder and Ninja Tune, as well as placements in various well known films, TV shows, and video games. His distinctive sound is a wonderful mix of haunting and uplifting, filled with mind bending synth work and an unmistakable spaciousness that is easy to get lost in.

Moderat

Also fresh off the heels of a new album this month is German supergroup Moderat. Made up of the members of Apparat and Modeselektor, the trio has had a highly decorated career since the early 2000s, at one point even being voted as Resident Advisor’s “#1 Live Act of the Year.” Their current world tour stops in Denver at Mission Ballroom in September, certainly a night to mark your calendars for!

Chrome Sparks

Since 2011, Jeremy Malvin (professionally known as Chrome Sparks) has been captivating audiences with his dreamy sonic atmosphere and pristine analog waves. Malvin is well respected around the music community, acquiring production credits for mainstream artists like Khalid and Bryson Tiller, as well as official remixes for Major Lazer, Chet Faker, and you guessed it, our boy Flume. Last year, he returned to Red Rocks with Tycho and STS9, let’s hope he stops by again sometime soon!

Point Point

To cap off our list, we have the fantastic French collaboration project Point Point. Currently consisting of producers Aazar and Nömak (and formerly joined by LH4L and Devoted to God), the group have been unique tastemakers since their inception in 2014. After releasing through OWSLA, the group created their own label, Record Record, which has given some amazing underground artists some much deserved shine. Their eccentric style of quirky synths and moody progressions is highly addictive, hopefully we continue to hear more from them soon!
